The German automaker said the E-Class 4Matic Wagon has “one of the most affluent customer profiles of any vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz portfolio.”
ATLANTA — The all-new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E400 4Matic Wagon, which is designed to provide shoppers with an all-wheel-drive alternative to crossovers and SUVs, will arrive at U.S. Mercedes-Benz dealerships in early 2017.
It targets a limited number of luxury wagons sold here, including the Audi Allroad, BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon and Volvo V60.
Pricing will be announced closer to the E400’s launch date.
Mercedes-Benz said an AMG E43 wagon is not on tap for the U.S. market, “but another AMG E-Wagon model is not to be ruled out.”
Standard equipment on the sleek E400 4Matic Wagon includes a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that delivers 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph.
Fuel economy estimates are not available.
A third-row folding bench seat is standard, providing seating for up to seven passengers.
The Luxury model of the E400 4Matic Wagon gets “classic” bumpers and the Mercedes-Benz hood ornament, while Sport models feature a “sportier” look.
Options include a Warmth and Comfort package with heated door armrests, center console, steering wheel and front seats and an air suspension.
Ambient interior lighting is available in 64 colors.
A long list of high-tech features includes evasive steering assist and touch-control buttons on the steering wheel that are similar to a smartphone interface and respond to swiping movements by the driver.
The companion 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300 sedan will arrive at Mercedes-Benz dealerships this summer, with pricing set to be announced around June 13.
