GMC Sierra Denali 2500HD Heads to Dealerships This Fall In 2017

The “bold hood design hints at what lies beneath,” GMC said in a statement. DETROIT — Truck buyers got their first glimpse of the 2017 GMC Sierra Denali 2500HD on Wednesday ahead of the heavy-duty pickup truck’s debut at GMC dealerships this fall.

The redesigned Sierra Denali 2500HD features a functional hood scoop, hinting at powertrain changes. The Sierra is GMC’s flagship truck.

No other details were released.

GMC spokeswoman Kelly Wysocki told Edmunds that pricing will be announced closer to the truck’s launch date.

The standard engine in all 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD models is a 6.0-liter FlexFuel V8 rated at 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

A Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel is available across the lineup. It delivers 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque.

Key competitors to the Sierra Denali 2500HD include the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, Ford F-250 Super Duty, Nissan Titan XD and Ram 2500.
