2017 Subaru Legacy and Outback Priced, Bound for Dealerships

The 2017 Legacy starts at $22,815, including an $820 destination charge, reflecting a $275 increase over the base 2016 model.

CHERRY Hill, New Jersey — The 2017 Subaru Legacy midsize sedan and 2017 Subaru Outback wagon will arrive at Subaru dealerships in July, Subaru of America announced.

The top-of-the-line 2017 Legacy 3.6R Limited is priced at $32,460, including shipping.

The new 2017 Legacy 2.5i Sport falls in the middle of the Legacy price range and carries a $26,815 sticker price, including shipping.

Details on the Legacy Sport include a dark gray grille, foglights with gloss-black housings and 18-inch wheels. Other touches include chrome-accented rocker trim and silver-finished turn-signal mirrors.

The cabin gets a two-tone look that combines gray and black cloth upholstery and blue accent stitching.

The 2017 Outback is priced at $26,520, including an $875 destination charge, reflecting a $675 increase over the base 2016 model.

New for 2017 is a flagship Outback 2.5i Touring model priced at $36,870, including shipping.

The top-of-the-line Outback 3.6R Touring starts at $39,070, including shipping.

The Outback Touring is an appearance package that bundles a dark gray grille and 18-inch wheels with dark gray accents. Other cosmetic enhancements include low-profile roof rails in a silver finish, along with lower cladding and chrome Outback badging.

Reverse automatic braking and high-beam assist debut on the 2017 Outback and Legacy. The braking feature helps the driver to avoid a possible crash when the vehicle is moving in reverse.

Brilliant Brown is a new Outback exterior color.

The Outback competes against the Ford Escape, GMC Terrain, Jeep Cherokee and Toyota Highlander.

Key Legacy rivals include the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers will find modest price increases on the base 2017 Legacy and Outback, along with some compelling new versions.
