1966 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 – Hemmings Find of the Day

Fashionable Interior. Rollicking Rocket action.” We’re not sure that last item was a selling point for suburban families shopping a sensible family sedan, but it was proof that Oldsmobile was at least attempting to infuse its products with an element of fun. In this case, the fun came in the form of a 330-cu.in. V-8, rated at 260 horsepower on premium gas, though buyers had to choose between a three-speed column shift and a Jetaway automatic. This two-owner 1966 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 four-door Holiday hardtop, for sale on Hemmings.com, was ordered with the latter, and has a known history since new.

For 1966, the Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 boasted a “Fresh new look.Recent work includes new brake lines and wheel cylinders, a new fuel pump, a carburetor rebuilt and a fuel tank flush, but the next owner will still need to replace the rubber window seals and address the rip in the driver’s seat. As an entry-level classic, this driver-quality Olds won’t need much to prepare it for the local or regional show circuit, and chances are good it will draw a crowd wherever it’s parked. From the seller’s description:

Original inside and out. 49,400 miles. 330 – V-8 two-barrel engine. Engine #X126695L. Trim #TR328

Purchased new by our neighbors when I was 12 years old. I am the 2nd owner. I also have the original Owner Protection Plan with the “Olds Protect-O-Plate,” the original Owner’s manual, and some vintage 1966 Olds advertising. All of the original decals / stickers are still on the car. Very much in the original state.
