Indeed, a look at historical census records shows that the farming town reached its peak population right around 1960, and a look at the photo (taken at the intersection of Washington and Tenth streets) shows plenty of new or newish cars lining the streets. So tell us what the fine folk of Montpelier were driving at their zenith?
The town of Montpelier seems a little less busy and less prosperous these days than when this postcard photo was taken sometime in the late Fifties.
