While there’s no shame in maintaining a car over the decades, exaggerating the originality of a car gets tiresome. We can’t levy the same charge, however, against the owner of this 1974 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 for sale on Hemmings.com, who has replaced only the tires – a wear item, after all – in its 42 years. Plenty of sellers will describe their cars as original and then list off all the items they’ve modified or restored. From the seller’s description:
This is an unrestored original example with 16,502 actual miles. Original factory paint with blk/wht Z28 decals. Original F60-15 wide oval bias-ply tires recently replaced with BF Goodrich radials mounted on 15″ factory Rally wheels. No rust, no patch panels or rust repair on this Z28. Front and rear spoilers, factory spot welds in the rear quarters. Solid rust free door bottoms and jambs. Original body side molding, dual sport racing mirrors with driver’s side remote. All original glass, excellent bright work. Original bumpers with rubber trim in excellent condition. Inside the car is completely original. No rust or moisture with all the factory spatter paint. Truly a very low milage original unrestored example that has been always garaged. The underneath still shows factory undercoating.
