Mercedes-Benz CLSReview

The Mercedes CLS is a sleek, low-slung four-door luxury coupé that’s designed to blend desirability with practicality.

While the idea of a stylish two-door luxury coupé appeals to many, the reality can grate. Shuffling seats back and forth, and then having your friends, family or colleagues trying to fold themselves into the rear part of the cabin isn’t the most graceful of exercises. The CLS, with its four-door layout, consequently dodges those issues – yet retains the low roofline and elegant styling of many similarly large coupés.

Engines include four- and six-cylinder diesels, a six-cylinder petrol and a stonking twin-turbocharged V8 in the CLS 63 AMG S. In entry-level diesel form it’s not outrageously priced, either, costing notably less than a BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé, Jaguar XJ or Porsche Panamera. Only the likes of the Audi A7 start at a similar price.

It’s certainly a tempting choice, with a plush interior, impressive refinement and comparatively low running costs.
