Elon Musk says your Tesla can float and drive through the water, at least briefly, but warns against trying this at home. If you drive a Tesla Model S, then maybe you also drive a submarine.

Musk tweeted this in response to a video showing a man in Kazakhstan driving his car through a flooded tunnel. Musk says that the Model S can double as a boat for short periods, using wheel rotation for thrust. No word on whether the Model S can completely submerge like James Bond’s Lotus Esprit, another waterproof car Musk is fond of.

Because the Tesla engine is electric, it doesn’t have an air intake, which allows it to be completely sealed and waterproof. However, Musk reminds owners that submerging your car is definitely not recommended. As Electrek points out, turning your Tesla into a boat is not protected by your car’s warranty, so don’t drive into the ocean and expect Elon to come save you.
