Go To Watch a McLaren Race Car Fall From the Sky

Professional and fast, they’re exactly who you want to see after an issue because you know you’ll be in good hands. Safety workers in professional motorsports are the best in the business.

That’s what makes this incident at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix all the more perplexing. What we have here is a disabled McLaren M23 F1 car that is being lifted off the track by a crane. Due to the tight confines of Monaco, cranes are frequently used to lift cars out of harms way and get them behind the barriers.

But this time, something went wrong. We’re not sure what failed, whether it was a part of the car or one of the straps holding the car up, but something went wrong and the car fell to the ground while being lifted. The thud when it hits the ground is especially bad.
